How We Match Devices
PhoneMatch decides whether two devices share a screen protector or a case by comparing their published measurements against fixed tolerances. The same rules apply to all 3,611 phones and tablets in the catalog.
Screen protectors
A screen protector has to match the shape of the glass, so we compare the diagonal screen size and the aspect ratio. Devices with different aspect ratios never match, even when their diagonals are equal. Different brands rarely share glass unless they use the same panel, so a cross-brand pair also needs the same resolution to count as a match.
| Result | Rule |
|---|---|
| Exact screen match | Same aspect ratio, same resolution, and screen sizes within 0.01". |
| Compatible screen | Same aspect ratio and screen sizes within 0.03". Resolution may differ for the same brand; across brands it must match. |
| Similar size only | Same aspect ratio and screen sizes within 0.03", but a different brand and resolution. Shown separately, not counted as a match. |
Cases
A case has to fit the body and leave the camera uncovered, so we compare length, width and thickness in millimetres and require the same camera module type and position. If either device has no camera layout on record, we don't report a case match.
| Result | Rule |
|---|---|
| Same case fit | Same camera module type and position, length and width within 0.3 mm, thickness within 0.2 mm. |
| Close case fit | Same camera module type and position, length and width within 0.8 mm, thickness within 0.5 mm. |
Where the data comes from
Dimensions, display and camera details are compiled from public specification databases and manufacturers' published spec sheets. A device only gets matches once its screen size, aspect ratio and dimensions are all known. The catalog was last updated on January 26, 2026.
Visitors can vote on every match, and you can suggest devices that share accessories. Suggestions are reviewed before they are added.
Limitations
- Front-camera cut-outs, sensor positions and curved screen edges aren't compared, so check them for edge-to-edge glass.
- Button and port positions aren't compared. A close case fit can still have cut-outs that don't line up.
- Published dimensions can differ slightly between regional models of the same device.
Treat a match as a strong shortlist and confirm the model list on the accessory's own packaging or listing.
